Real Madrid striker Joselu happy scoring in Villarreal draw: Guler is our diamond

Real Madrid striker Joselu was happy scoring in Sunday's 4-4 draw at Villarreal.

Joselu says not losing was important on the day.

He stated, "I thought the first half was very good. The team was very clinical in attack. These games are useful for us to prepare for what's coming up in two weeks and for everyone to be fresh and with that match fitness. They were playing with a lot at stake in the second half and it was certainly a very good game for the fans. We have to take the positives and move on.

"We have been very consistent throughout the season. There were a lot of goals in today's game, but the result is what it is. Once again the team didn't lose and that's the way we've started the season and we're continuing like that. It's obvious that it's not great to concede four goals. But these matches at the moment, allow us to prepare for what's coming in two weeks' time, and that's the way it is. They were playing with a lot more at stake. The squad has worked hard from start to finish. Let's hope that these league games will help us prepare 100% for the final."

Joselu has 18 goals this season.

"I'm happy because it's special every time I score a goal in this jersey. For my personal account I'm very happy, it's helped us to get a point here, although it's clear that you want to score goals to win games. I'm happy to contribute and to keep scoring goals."

Arda Gler struck twice on the day and Joselu added: "He's a talent, a diamond that we have. We've looked after him very well all year. He didn't get off to a good start with injuries and we've all been there for him. We treat him like he's our youngest son, especially the older players.

"He's demonstrating the quality he has, which is nothing new. He came here with that quality that he showed especially in training and last year. He's a boy who has a great future ahead of him and he's going to give Real Madrid fans a lot of happiness."
